Our materials

At SAINT JAMES, we are committed to using natural, noble and high-quality materials to create durable garments designed to last and accompany you for years to come.
We therefore mainly use pure virgin wool, as well as 100% cotton.

Wool

The Signature Fiber of SAINT JAMES

Wool

Wool has always been at the heart of SAINT JAMES’ identity. Our iconic sailor jumpers, cardigans, and coats are knitted exclusively from pure new wool, sourced directly from the shearing of healthy, living sheep. This natural fiber,
completely recyclable and biodegradable, combines sustainability with timeless elegance, reflecting the brand’s commitment to quality and authenticity.

In 2020, SAINT JAMES proudly joined the French collective Tricolor, a movement dedicated to reviving and promoting the French wool industry. This partnership underscores our dedication to local sourcing, craftsmanship, and the preservation of an essential heritage textile.

Cotton

Versatile and Sustainable by SAINT JAMES

Cotton

Cotton is one of the world’s most cultivated natural fibers, and at SAINT JAMES, it plays a central role in our collections. From Breton striped shirts to jumpers, T-shirts, polo shirts, shirts, pants, and dresses, cotton brings softness, breathability, and comfort to our garments while maintaining the signature elegance of nautical-inspired fashion.

How to care for your SAINT JAMES clothes

Did you know?

A wrinkled pure new wool garment? Simply lay it out in a humid environment, such as your bathroom, and let the ambient moisture naturally relax the fibers. Wool’s unique properties allow it to smooth out quickly without ironing, preserving both its shape and texture.

Care

At SAINT JAMES, we share our golden rules for wool care: simple, expert-recommended actions that help you extend the life of your iconic Breton striped shirts and sailor sweaters. By following these guidelines, your nautical wardrobe will retain its elegance, softness, and durability for years to come.
