French singer Etienne Daho put together an exclusive wardrobe for SAINT JAMES. Each piece of this collection resonates as the expression of a journey into the artist’s personal creative universe. The SAINT JAMES DAHO collection is timeless, free-spirited and challenges the established fashion codes. Etienne Daho gives us a unique collaboration signed Bleu Comme Toi ("Blue Like You").
I made a bequest of my stage clothes to the Galliera Museum, where this famous SAINT JAMES Breton striped shirt appeared, in which I posed on the cover of my second album La notte, La notte… in 1984. Luc Lesénécal from SAINT JAMES, then realized that there was an obvious connection between the brand and me and suggested that I create a capsule collection.
I have no expertise in the field of fashion, but besides curiosity and the permanent desire to think outside the box, I have the deep conviction that when life brings me a project, it means that I am ready to make it happen.
I met the team, visited the workshops and felt in tune with passionate people who, just like me, are very attached to French quality and know-how.
I then proposed a wardrobe, based on a mix of the brand's timeless classics and the pieces that can be found in my wardrobe: sailor top, sailor sweater, peacoat, sailor pants, hat, scarf, etc. Everything was completely redesigned, resized, revisited according to my vision, with the unfailing and attentive support of the SAINT JAMES crew.
I did not want to have a fragmented vision but rather to pursue my ideas. That’s why I suggested photographing the countryside and asked Antoine Carlier, with whom I work regularly, to direct the movies. For this story of friendship to be complete, I asked relatives who are not professional models, but whose personality I appreciate, to embody the SAINT JAMES spirit. Each garment is named after one of my songs and the collection is called Bleu comme toi.
